🎉 Join Us for the “Our Story” Black History Month Exhibit Opening Ceremony!📅 When: Saturday, February 1 | 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
📍 Where: Franklin County Library, 355 Franklin St, Rocky Mount, VA
Celebrate Black History Month with us! Explore the “Our Story” Exhibit, open all February, and join us at the opening ceremony for the unveiling of the African American Heritage Trail—a virtual StoryMap featured on the new African American Heritage Page on the Visit Franklin County Tourism website. This innovative platform brings our community’s history to life in an engaging and interactive way.
✨ The ceremony will also feature “Raising the Shade: 1850-1910”, a powerful presentation on the United States Colored Troops from Franklin County and their courageous service during the Civil War. This initiative has been made possible in part by the Monuments Across Appalachian Virginia Project and the Mellon Foundation.
Light refreshments will be served as we honor and celebrate our community’s rich history.
We can’t wait to see you there! #BlackHistoryMonth #OurStoryExhibit #FranklinCountyHistory #WarrenStreet #WSHS
