We are honoured to announce an upcoming exhibition by Mike Phelps, opening in the gallery on Friday 6 March.
Born in the USA in 1946 and based in Australia since 1971, Phelps is a self-taught painter, sculptor, and master printmaker with over 55 years of practice. He is widely respected for his silkscreen work and for running a Sydney screen-printing studio from 1983, printing for artists including Brett Whiteley, John Coburn, Martin Sharp, Cressida Campbell, and many others.
Now living and working in Newcastle, Phelps continues to create daily, largely in private. This exhibition offers a rare opportunity to view works made over the past two decades — many of which have never been publicly seen.
