About this Event
Romancing the Machine/Dancing at the Edge of Intelligence is a three-day symposium featuring an international gathering of leading choreographers, dancers, composers, designers, AI artists, and software engineers who will consider one of the most compelling questions in dance today: Where in this new world is the line between the physical and the virtual?
Opening night will feature Blackletter (3D installation), by Open-Ended Group—Marc Downie and Paul Kaiser; Centaur, a work that examines the consequences of using artificial intelligence and the power of technology, created by choreographer Pontus Lidberg and artist Cecilie Waagner Falkenstrøm; and ground-breaking late 19th-century and early 20th-century archival works. Jacob’s Pillow Executive and Artistic Director Pam Tatge will conduct a talkback with the artists and the evening will conclude with a reception.
