OPENING: Less is More: A Minimalism Exhibition

“Less is More: A Minimalism Exhibition,” featuring artists Lucas Knowles and Mary Meyer, explores what it means for shapes and color to be stripped to its bare essentials in contemporary art. Contrary to the maximalist motto “more is more”, minimalists argue that art expresses more when it cannot be simplified any further. Knowles’ work offers simple linework on uniquely shaped supports that become a part of the art, rather than a constraining border. Meyers’ uses monochrome pallets on a multilevel surface, allowing for depth to be carried through her single pigmented work. “Less is More” is about the uncomplicated beauty minimalism offers the eye.

This exhibition is set to open February 4 and run through March 26, 2022, with an opening reception February 4, 6-9pm, and is located in FOUND:RE Contemporary Gallery off Portland Street.
