St. James Coffee will be opening late on Saturday, November 1st to celebrate the Feast of All Saints. Typically, it is a Holy Day of Obligation in the Catholic Church, but when the Feast falls on a Saturday, the obligation to attend Mass that day is dispensed. So, it is a really good day to go to Mass, but not an obligation. St. James is closed on all Holy Days of Obligation (which is why we are closed every Sunday!) but since the obligation is dispensed we will be opening 90 minutes late, so all our volunteers can attend Mass if they wish. The Feast of All Saints is to honor all saints, both known and unknown, who have gone before us and entered into the eternal glory of heaven. It is a day dedicated to reflecting on the lives of the saints during the triduum of Hallowtide. (All Hallow's Eve, All Saints Day, and All Souls Day)
Revelation 7:13-17
One of the elders then spoke and asked me, 'Who are these people, dressed in white robes, and where have they come from?'
I answered him, 'You can tell me, sir.' Then he said, 'These are the people who have been through the great trial; they have washed their robes white again in the blood of the Lamb.
That is why they are standing in front of God's throne and serving him day and night in his sanctuary; and the One who sits on the throne will spread his tent over them.
They will never hunger or thirst again; sun and scorching wind will never plague them,
because the Lamb who is at the heart of the throne will be their shepherd and will guide them to springs of living water; and God will wipe away all tears from their eyes.'
