Here's some thoughts:-If creativity is a fundamental human drive, why do so many people feel locked out of the arts?
-How can we claim to have a vibrant cultural community when so many voices are unheard and so many people face structural barriers to participation?
-Is it enough to simply offer creative opportunities, or must we actively dismantle the systems that keep people from accessing them?
I'm hosting informal opportunities for you to come along to my studio on St Johns Street and share your experience of accessibility and the arts/creativity (whilst enjoying some light refreshments and creative activities)
Co-producing opportunities is essential. Not only does it improve insight in to how creativity and the arts can cater to as many people as possible, it can result in improved wellbeing, increase sense of belonging and purpose.
