Remai Modern is pleased to celebrate the opening of Points of Return – Spaces of Departure, the second instalment in Remai Modern’s Great Plains Series (GPS), which began in 2022 with In the Middle of Everywhere.Opening in Remai Modern’s Marquee Gallery, this exhibition features more than 25 artists from or connected to the Great Plains. They are connected through their interest in thinking about movement as a lens through which to understand the experiences of flora, fauna, and people who have traversed these lands.
Following opening remarks, we present a performance of Sounding, an ongoing collaborative project between Saskatchewan artists Rania Alharthi, Kris Alvarez, Terri Fidelak and Elke Richter. Since 2021, they have developed a deep, evolving relationship that centres rituals of grieving through vocalized sound and performance.
