This globally recognized certification program is the best way to begin your lifelong adventures as a certified scuba diver.
Personalized training is combined with in-water practice sessions to ensure you have the skills and experience required to become truly comfortable underwater. You will earn the SSI Open Water Diver certification.

This course includes:
- Training with instructor Marc Ellis
- 2 Pool Sessions at Saginaw YMCA
- 1 Pool Sessions at Delta College
- 2 Classroom Sessions at Dive & Glide Midland
- Use of a full set of scuba gear (excluding mask, snorkel, fins, boots, and wetsuit)
Course Dates are as follows and students must attend all dates:
Classroom: Tue 1/7/25 at 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, at Dive & Glide
Pool: Thurs 1/9/25 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at Saginaw YMCA
Pool: Thurs 1/16/25 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm at Saginaw YMCA
Pool: Wed 1/22/25 5 pm to 8 pm at Delta College
Classroom: Thurs 1/23/25 at 6 pm to 9 pm, at Dive & Glide
Training Fees Per Person: $425.00
For student safety and enjoyment, our course size is limited to 6 students. Ages 10+ are invited to attend.
All students need their own eLearning account and mouthpiece for class. These are included in the class fee; no additional fees apply.
All students must have their own mask, snorkel, boots, and fins. For health safety reasons, wetsuits are not provided for pool sessions. It is highly recommended each student purchase their own 1.5mm or 3mm wetsuit for class. Your instructor will assist you in choosing the proper gear for your training and future diving adventures during your first class session. Registration forms and waivers must be completed to participate.
NOTE: TO COMPLETE YOUR OPEN WATER DIVER CERTIFICATION, YOU WILL NEED TO REGISTER FOR OPEN WATER CHECKOUT DIVES AS WELL. Register to complete the dives with us (the cost is $199 when you choose your dive dates) or ask for Universal Referral Forms to complete dives with another instructor or while on your next warm water vacation.
ADVANCED REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED at least one week prior to the first class date. Medical forms and waivers must be completed prior to participation. Based on the answers you provide on your medical information form, you may be required to obtain physician approval to dive.
