About this Event

Supported Yoga for Autism provides a comfortable and nurturing environment for participants to explore movement and mindfulness at their own pace. With ample time for transitions, this class allows individuals to experience yoga in a way that feels best for them while fostering self-expression, confidence, and a sense of community. Participants are welcome to bring a caregiver, friend, or communication partner for added support.

Registration Reminder: If you are bringing a support person or caregiver, please ensure you register for two tickets—one for yourself and one for your support person.

What to Expect: This 60-minute class is a slower-moving class designed to encourage a deeper connection with the body by linking breath with movement. Sessions provide:

  • Gentle, intentional movement with extra time for transitions
  • Opportunities for self-paced exploration of poses
  • A supportive space where participants can bring a caregiver, friend, or family member if desired

This class is an affinity group for any participant identifying as autistic. Caregivers, family, and friends are welcome to join in a supportive role.

Accessibility & Support:Open Up classes are designed to be accessible to people with and without disabilities—everyone is welcome! Our facilitators create a supportive, sensory-inclusive environment and work to meet the unique needs of each participant. If you have a specific support need or any questions, please reach out at [email protected].

Additional Information:This is a shared, welcoming space. Some participants may make sudden movements or sounds as they engage in class—this is part of our inclusive environment. Feel free to bring your own headphones if needed. A relaxation space is also available. We provide mats and supportive props, but you’re welcome to bring your own.

Instructor: Anea Michelle

Age Requirement: Suitable for ages 18+

  • All new participants will be asked to sign a waiver, studio agreements and optional photo release upon arrival at the first class. You can read the terms here.

  • Classes are free because we want to remove barriers to participation. If you are able to contribute and help us keep classes on the schedule, a regular monthly donation helps us do that! www.open-up.org/donate
