About this Event

Welcome to Open Studio Night at Fisk Avenue DIY Experience! For these events, you can arrive any time between the hours listed to start your project. The shop will close at 8PM, so just plan to arrive with enough time to complete your project based on the estimated time frame for each project below! Projects will not be started if you arrive after 7PM, and you will be asked to transfer to a different night if you arrive too late to begin. We will have six different projects available for this event, and our project catalog rotates to give you more options every class. Read project descriptions below and take a look at some images of previous completed projects!

Project A: Acrylic Pour Painting. Using two 8"x10" canvases, explore your creative side and experiment with a new medium with Acrylic Pour Painting! We have pre-mixed pouring paints in a wide variety of colors, gold leaf and crystal additions, and several techniques that a workshop leader will demonstrate for you when you arrive. Optional epoxy flood coat can be added by a workshop leader after they dry for an additional $10/canvas. Projects take 48 hours to dry before pick-up, flood coats require 5 business days.

Price: $50. Estimated Time: 1-1.5HR. Size: 8"x10" (x2)

Project B: Cribbage Boards. Select from our live-edge selection or glue up a 5" wide board, then follow the steps from your workshop leader to set up your template, clamps, and drill bit. Project C: Large Cutting Boards. Select from our variety of hardwoods, pre-cut to length and into 3", 2", and 1"W strips. Build your pattern up to 13"W, and learn how to glue up a board. The workshop leader will then plane down your piece and cut ends square. You then sand up to 220 and add a finishing coat of mineral oil, leaving with a ready-to-use cutting board!

Price: $60. Estimated Time: 2 HR. Size: 17"Lx13"W

Project D: Epoxy River Serving Trays. Select your live-edge boards, two colors of mica powder, and then learn how to set up a mold. We prep the mold, clamp our pieces, mix our colors, and then pour! When you pick-up, you have the option of adding handles in the color of your choice.
