About this Event

Open Sprints: A Community Hackathon focused on Design Systems
The Open Sprints Hackathon event's focus will be around Design Systems.
The one day event is set up as an unconference style session, where attendees can choose demos or sessions that align with their interest. This is not your typical hackathon where folks are split in squads to pitch solutions in the end.
What the day will look like:
In the morning, the event opens with talks from industry experts to lead discussions around building design systems. And in the afternoon, there will be breakout groups, on how we built Equity UI component library and adjacent design workshops. (Check out "What to expect" section to learn more.)

What to expect:

  • IN-PERSON EVENT. This event can be attended only in NYC. Zoom links may be available post-event, but is not guaranteed.
  • LUNCH IS INCLUDED. Food will be provided, make sure to choose your pizza options.
  • CHOOSE YOUR WORKSHOPS. After lunch, you can choose the workshop you want to attend at a timeslot provided in agenda posted. You will be learning from subject matter experts on Design Systems, and there are adjacent topics in the agenda attached.
  • CHECK OUT OUR PROJECTS. There will be 2 pitched projects: Project Beagle and Project Corgi. You are free to check out the projects available online for learning purposes, but only Flatiron fellows and Femmecubator volunteers who applied as contributors will be provided support in the program duration (4 weeks) after the hackathon event.
  • COMMUNITY-DRIVEN LEARNING. This event is a demo and showcase of work led by the Flatiron School fellows and Femmecubator volunteers! Come as you are, learn plenty and connect with the community!
    What is Open Sprints?
Open Sprints is open to the public where they can learn practical skills and get hands on exposure to facilitator-run workshops.
