Massachusetts Poet Laureate Regie Gibson has lectured and performed widely in the US, Cuba, and Europe. Among his awards and fellowships are the Absolute Poetry Award, the Europa en Versi Award in Italy, the Walker Scholarship, several Mass Cultural Council Awards, A YMCA Writer's Fellowshop, the Brother Thomas Fellowshop from the Boston Foundation and two Live Arts Boston grants. He has served as a consultant for the NEA's "How Art Works", initiative and the the permanent exhibit, "Mere Distinction of Colour" at James Madison's home in Virginia. His most recent book is Storms Beneath the Skin.
Regie has served as creative lead on a team of scientist and members of the Red Cross / Red Crescent Climate Center (B.U. & Hague, Netherlands), helping to craft language regarding issues of climate change.
