Please join us to share your words. In celebration of April as National Poetry Month, join us at Josh Johnson Creative Studio for an Open Mic Night.
All writers are encouraged - from seasoned spoken word poets, to first-time readers and everyone in between. This is a safe space and the free event is open to everyone.
This is a night to express, listen, and uplift in an inclusive and supportive environment, where every voice is valued and every story matters. Whether you choose to share or simply love the beauty of the spoken word, this night is for you. Bring a polished piece that’s ready to shine, a work-in-progress that’s still finding its form, or just an open heart to absorb the emotion of the evening. No pressure, no judgment—just a welcoming community where creativity flows freely.
Here, poetry is more than performance—it’s connection. It’s the chance to share your truth, hear new perspectives, and celebrate the power of words, together as a community. So step up to the mic, or cheer from the sidelines. No matter how you participate, you are part of the experience, and your presence makes it richer.

Age: Appropriate for all guests, however you know your child best.
Location: Hosted by Josh Johnson Creative Studio, 56 South Duke Street York, PA, United States, Pennsylvania 17401. The door is on the corner.
ADA info and Parking: The Josh Johnson Creative Studio has a restroom on-site and there are three steps to enter. The workshop area floor is hardwood. There is no parking lot, only on-street parking with meters. The closest parking garage is about one block away at 41 E Market St.
You do not have to share poetry to attend. Poetry and literature in all forms is welcome, as well as music or movement, however you wish to share. You can share a favorite poem by another writer as well.
