Join MIHPF and Mare Island CO for Open Mare Island!Featuring self-guided walking & shuttle tours of historic Mare Island.
Docents will be stationed at five locations to present the area and answer questions, including St. Peter's Chapel and the Naval Cemetery. And, for the first time, SolTrans will sponsor a free shuttle that will run between the staffed stations.
During this event, you will walk through 142 years of Mare Island Naval Shipyard history. Join this free touring event as you follow a printed guide through Mare Island, stopping at docent-staffed key sites located at:
St. Peter’s Chapel
Alden Park
Historic Core
Old Hospital at Touro University
Naval Cemetery at the Preserve
Check in at the Quarters Coffee House to pick up your tour map and enjoy a 1 free cup of coffee, compliments of Mare Island Co. Then, wander your way through history or hop on the bus as you move from location to location where Mare Island Historic Park Foundation docents will be stationed to share history with you as well as direct you to your next stop.
