This talk examines how photographs across two centuries and in a variety of forms and genres—including surveillance images, documentary photography, personal images, and public art—influence perceptions of African American experiences.Leigh Raiford is Professor of African American and African Diaspora Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where she teaches, researches, curates and writes about race, gender, justice and visuality.
