Stop by the Milwaukee Astronomical Society between 6pm and 10pm for an open house, starting with a 6:15pm talk about our largest planets in the solar system, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune with presenter Paul Smith, featuring photography from observatory Lee Keith! Learn what us amateur observers like to photograph and what makes these planets so unique, including what's new with them.As usual with our open houses, we'll start with a presentation a little after 6 at 6:15pm, and we plan to present until it turns dark. At that time, we'll let out and we'll have our telescopes positioned to see night sky objects if it's clear. We'll have members available at each scope to help you get to know and even see through some of our telescopes on site, and other MAS members may bring their telescopes there as well. This will also be an opportunity to tour the grounds. It will get dark after about 7:30pm, and we'll be observing then if it's clear.
Our talk starts at 6:15pm, to allow people time to arrive. Meanwhile as you arrive, we encourage you to learn about the observatory and chat with members. This family friendly event, is free, but a donation is suggested for parking and to help us maintain the grounds. We encourage you to use this time to learn more about the Milwaukee Astronomical Society, an all volunteer community run organization, and what it'd mean to be a member of our non-profit!
After the talk, plan to come back every Saturday night and then some, to join us again at the family rate of just $53 for a whole year, which enables you to stop by our observatory every Saturday night through 2025! It's a pretty neat deal. We offer so much more as well, from scope rentals, to imaging opportunities, dark sky parties, and more. Learn more when you're here about our unique non-profit, so this is a great opportunity to stop by and ask questions.
