With admission rates below 10%, learn what truly matters in private school admissions and how families can prepare.
About this Event

As studies show that student reading and math performance continue to decline, more families than ever are considering private schools. Many families want clear answers to: Does my child have a realistic chance at a top private school? Are private schools worth the investment? How do selective schools evaluate applicants, and what truly helps a student stand out? When should families begin preparing for 2027 private school applications?

Top U.S. private schools are known for their rigorous academic standards, strong faculty, and long-term commitment to developing students. Admission to these schools is highly competitive, and success requires far more than good grades alone.

As long-time educators and admissions advisors, we have worked with families for decades and have seen firsthand how selective private schools make decisions. At ASC A+ Program, we focus on helping families understand what schools are really looking for—and how to prepare strategically, early, and realistically.

At this free, in-person seminar held at the ASC A+ Program main campus (1106 Commonwealth Ave, Boston, MA), we will walk parents through the admissions standards and selection process used by leading private schools, including Noble & Greenough, Concord Academy, Phillips Academy, Milton Academy, and Roxbury Latin.

We will explain which academic indicators truly matter, how schools assess a student’s readiness, and which elements parents should prioritize at different stages of preparation. We will also clarify a topic many families find confusing: the difference between academic strength and what is often called “soft skills.” What do these qualities actually include? How are they evaluated? And how do schools balance academic performance with personal qualities, character, and long-term potential?

With current acceptance rates typically ranging from 6% to 12%, competition is intense. We will share practical insights based on recent admissions outcomes and offer guidance on how students at different grade levels can position themselves more effectively over time—not through shortcuts, but through thoughtful planning and consistent development.
