About this Event
Open Day at Cumberland Lodge
We invite you to explore Cumberland Lodge as we open the doors of our former royal residence in Windsor Great Park to the public on Saturday 31 August 2024.
Join us for a guided tour of our beautiful 17th century building, which was historically home to Rangers of the Great Park, including Prince Christian and Princess Helena, daughter of Queen Victoria. Tours run between 11am and 3pm and each ticket includes a boutique afternoon tea designed by our Head Chef, Rob Szewczyk.
We will also have two Bee Talks at 12pm and 2pm, with expert beekeeper Sergio Pignagnoli, to learn more about our honey-making residents.
Today, Cumberland Lodge is an educational charity and social enterprise that exists to empower young people to lead the conversation around social division. Providing them with the skills, perspective and confidence to question, challenge and understand some of the most complex social issues of our time.
During your visit you will learn more about our charitable work with students, young people and others who share our ethos of building more open, peaceful, and inclusive societies.
The Youth Arts Alternative Tour!
Join us on a tour at 1pm that will highlight the transformative power of art and storytelling in creating connections and understanding. Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, for the first time in its 350-year history, a group of young people from East London and Slough will be taking over Cumberland Lodge this summer, collaborating with sound, spoken word, photography, and textile artists, to re-imagine the Lodge through their eyes. Our ‘Youth Arts Takeover’ will connect threads of past and present, weaving stories from these young peoples’ communities into the narrative of Cumberland Lodge's history and heritage.
Led by young people and artists involved in the project, through this tour you can experience Cumberland Lodge through their stories, see their work, and gain a deeper understanding of how their unique perspectives enhance our collective histories.
