MANES STUDIO THEATRE WILL HAVE AN OPEN CASTING CALL FOR THE HIT MUSICAL HAIRSPRAY!When:
Sunday, April 27th at 6:00 PM & Tuesday, April 29th at 7:30 PM Callbacks Sunday May 4th at 6:00 PM

Manes Studio Theatre
141 S. Wellwood Ave. Lindenhurst 2nd Floor
Preparation:
Bring head shot and resume.
Prepare 16-32 bars of upbeat Broadway/Rock Style music (bring sheet music)!
An accompanist will be provided.
Be prepared to stay for a dance call.
You must list all conflicts between May 20th and June 29th

Rehearsal Schedule:
Rehearsals will begin on or about May 20th and continue on a Sunday-Thursday evening basis as called.
Performances:
July 5th - July 20th
Thursday, Friday & Saturday Evenings at 8:00 PM. Sunday matinees a 2:30 PM

WE WILL BE SEEKING PERFORMERS AGES 15 AND OLDER OF DIVERSE ETHNICITY AND GENDERS.
If unable to attend in person, please send a video submission with a musical selection as per the above and highlighting dance/movement skills. Additionally please attach a headshot and resume.

TRACY TURNBLAD: F The unsuspecting 17 year old protagonist who is large and in charge. Confident and incredibly determined. Big belt sound/comic timing needed/dance well.
EDNA TURNBLAD: M 45-60 Tracy's mother--a woman of girth who has lost her confidence and dreams of being a plus size clothing designer. She is boisterous and commanding. Played by man in drag. Strong vocal/good mover/strong comic chops.
WILBUR TURNBLAD: M 45-60 Tracy's simple minded joke shop owner dad. Worships his daughter and wife. Good vocal/movement skills. Strong comedic timing in vaudeville mode.
VELMA VON TUSSLE: F 40-55 The devious mother of Amber and snobby racist who would go to any length to ensure her daughter is the next big thing. Strong belt and commanding actor.
AMBER VON TUSSLE: F Pretty, svelte and shallow 17 year old daughter of Velma. Always looking to be the center of attention, though not worthy of it. Excellent vocalist and actor. Decent movement skills.
CORNY COLLINS: M 30-40 The charismatic host of the popular TV dance program. Good looking and smooth. Nice guy on and off camera. Strong tenor vocal quality and sharp movement/dance skills.
PENNY PINGLETON: F 16-18 Tracy's dorky best friend and sidekick--not the brightest, but has good intentions. Has a childlike curiosity about her. Big belt vocalist/strong dance/very strong comedic timing.
LINK LARKIN: M 17-19 The star heartthrob on the Corny Collins Show. Good looking and smooth talking. Hopes to be the next rock n' roll idol. Excellent singer with natural charm and star quality presence.
SEAWEED J. STUBBS: M 17-19 man of color. Tracy's classmate who is discriminated against due to his skin color. He is cocky, but lovable. Very strong singer/actor/dancer w/strong stage presence.
MOTORMOUTH MABLE: F 40-60 woman of color. Mother of Seaweed and Ines. She is big, blonde, beautiful--and proud of it. A highly confident woman with a strong presence. Big gospel style belt and mover.
LITTLE INEZ: F 12-15 girl of color. She is her mother's daughter. Exhibits a polite style of "sass". Big dynamic belt voice and good dance skills.
FEMALE AUTHORITY FIGURE: 30+ Portrays various characters throughout (Penny's mother, gym teacher, prison matron) A "tour de force" for a strong vocalist with good comic range abilities.
MALE AUTHORITY FIGURE: 30+ Portrays various characters throughout (Spritzer, Mr. Pinky, etc.) Strong comic actor with decent vocal ability.
THE DYNAMITES: 3 17-25 year old ladies of color (also double as Seaweed's friends) Strong vocalists in style of "The Supremes". Solid movement/dance skills.
STOOIE, DUANE, THAD: M 16-20 year old young men of color. Friends/classmates of Seaweed Strong singer/dancers.
COUNCIL MEMBERS: 4F 4M 15-18 year old dance group on The Corny Collins show. Good vocal and dance skills. Also play people of Baltimore, Students, etc.
