In conjunction with her MA Week exhibition at HKS, Hannah McDonald invites you to send submissions for the fifth edition of Open Process Night, this time at Hordaland Kunstsenter. The event will take place on Wednesday 5th February, 18:00-21:00, and the deadline to apply is 29th January at midnight. You can contribute with text readings, poetry, performative lectures, performances, sound and video work, anything that you think could work in the setting of Hordaland Kunstsenter. There will be a projector to use, otherwise you bring what you need.
ABOUT OPEN PROCESS NIGHT
Opening Process Night is an evening to experiment, practice, try out and play. When Hannah McDonald started the event series in 2024 at Bergen Kjøtt as part of the MA1 Takeover exhibition Big Teeth, it was with an initial desire to share more text based work with one another. Whether that be texts (essays, poems or other) that people have written, or found and love.
Writing can be a solitary process and difficult to share. The Open Process Night is meant to be a welcoming and safe space in which to try things out. The work shown there does not need to be finished, it does not need to feel complete. You can submit anything you want to share and discuss. Whether it’s doing something completely new or a start to a larger thing happening at a later date. This is an evening to explore the process rather than the final outcome.
There will be time to come together after the scheduled events are finished, for conversation and feedback, so that you can continue to develop your ideas/work.
Hannah McDonald and Johanna Sevholt (artist and Hannah’s colleague on the Masters course) are making publications for each of these events. They are little documents of each of the works, so if you choose to take part you will be in the next publication. The previous four publications will be at the event to look at and purchase.
This fifth session of Open Process Night will be a part of Hannah McDonald’s exhibition pool/loop at Hordaland Kunstsenter, the previous four have been hosted in the downstairs bar at Bergen Kjøtt.

Application (in one pdf document) must contain:
- Name/artist name + pronouns
- Short description of what you want to present (Including working title + approximate duration of work + if you need the projector/sound system)
- Up to 5 images or a section of text work (just focused on what you want to show/present, not a portfolio)
