Prague Shakespeare Company2024 Fall/Winter Season Auditions
The Prague Shakespeare Company (www.pragueshakespeare.org) will be holding open call auditions for the 2024 PSC Fall/Winter season from 10am-2pm (10:00-14:00) on Wednesday 11 September, 2024 at Divadlo na Pradle located at Besední 487, 118 00 Malá Strana, Prague 1, Czech Republic. The productions/roles we will be casting for are listed below:
The Merchant of Venice

Starring Irwin Appel as Shylock

All types considered. The roles of Shylock, Antonio and Jessica have been cast. All other roles open. Please present a speech from the play of your choice no longer than 2 minutes in length. Please note all rehearsals will be during the day between 10am - 6pm (exact times TBA). Rehearsals will be 6 days a week Monday through Saturday. Rehearsals will begin 7 October, 2024.

All types considered. No roles have been precast, however A Midwinter Night’s Dream (Shakespeare’s Midsummer adapted to a winter setting) will feature PSC 2024 Winter Shakespeare Intensive participants alongside PSC and Prague based artists. For A Christmas Carol please prepare a brief acapella (no piano or accompanist will be provided) 16 bars of a Christmas song of your choice in addition to a short, no more than 90 seconds of a Shakespeare piece. Please note all rehearsals will be during the day between 10am - 6pm (exact times TBA). Rehearsals will be 6 days a week Monday through Saturday. Rehearsals will begin 4 December, 2024.
In addition to Actors we are also seeking assistant directors, stage managers, crew and production assistants. Interested applicants are encouraged to come to the Open Call for an interview. Individuals not able to attend the open call may submit a link to a video self-tape audition of a Shakespeare monologue, no later than Wednesday 11 September COB to [email protected]
The productions will be performed in English. We are only considering Prague based-actors who may legally work in the Czech Republic for this production. All fees and salaries negotiated individually based on the scope of work, length of service with PSC and professional experience. English language proficiency, classical theater experience and training are essential.
Minorities and unique types especially encouraged to apply. Our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to audition. We are also seeking all races and ethnicities and actors with disabilities as well as able-bodied actors for all roles. At the audition, please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if there are any accommodations we can provide.
Almost all rehearsals will exclusively take place during the daytime during the week and on Saturdays. Priority in casting will go to individuals who do not have any conflicts rehearsing 10am-6pm Monday through Saturday
