WHY?:
- BE DISCOVERED! Take a leap of faith. Share your gift. Win prizes. Show up for your community! ARTS 4 ALL. Free to participate.
WHO:
- Are you a local performing artist Queen/King looking for your crown? Are you carrying a special talent yearning to be recognized? Does your granddaughter sing like Whitney? Are you a local band looking for more exposure? Does your son and his friends amaze everyone with their dance abilities?
- Age Requirement: From 5 years to 105 years! (Minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian)
- Must be residents of Harlem, Bronx, Upper West Side.
WHAT:
- Welcoming talents and cultural displays of all kinds:
- Music: Singer/Songwriter, Drumming, Whistling, Rapper, Duets, Bands, etc.
- Movement: Dance, Martial Arts, Acrobatics, etc.
- Performance: Spoken Word, Comedy, Drag, Impressions etc. AND MORE.
- Surprise the judges with your unique and quirky acts! Does your homemade robot do tricks? Do you get a bullseye every time on your dartboard? Soccer whiz? Rubik’s cube? Magic act? Juggling?
- No R-rated content, fire, messy liquids, animals/pets, children under 5.
- All participants agree to assume legal responsibility for their physical safety while participating in the Talent Contest.
- All participants agree to be interviewed, filmed, photographed and appear in promotional content while participating in the Talent Contest.
WHEN:
- Open Auditions (In-Person) April 19th, April 20th at 647 Columbus Avenue (The Bernie Wohl Center)
- Sign Waiver Upon Entry
- Bring ID, Submit Headshot and Resume if applicable.
- Perform for preliminary judges (5 minutes max)
- 8 Finalists Selected + Shortlist/Standby Notified by Monday April 22
CONTEST:
- Contest (Public)
- June 7: Tech/Dress Rehearsal for 8 finalists 4pm-10pm
- June 8: Showcase & Award Ceremony 2pm-10pm (7pm Show)
- 3 Celebrity Judges, 4 Awardees
- Judges and complete prize packackes to be announced. (1st place) “Grand Prize Winner” , ( 2nd place) “UWS All-Star”, (3rd place) “UWS Rising Star”, “Audience Favorite” (determined by audience ballots)
WHERE:
- All in person events will take place at the Bernie Wohl Center, 647 Columbus Avenue between W 91st and W 92nd.
- Note about wheelchair accessibility: Regretfully, our site has a design flaw limitation due to its 8 steep steps. Wheelchair-bound guests should plan to be accompanied by a trusted caregiver/friend who is capable of assisting them into and out of the automatic chairlift to enter our Auditorium. For liability reasons, our staff are not able to physically lift a guest.
- During the awards ceremony, The Bernie Wohl Center will be decked out in its finest regalia, abundant with flowers, refreshments, house DJ, and more.
- Gen. Admission Tickets to the showcase will be $20.00 to help support the arts program and $15.00 for children 12 and under/seniors over 65.
WHO WE ARE:
Goddard Riverside's mission is to improve the quality of life for 20,000+ New Yorkers, end poverty, and combat homelessness by operating resource centers and integrating these available public assistance programs into the fabric of a family’s life.
