The Barn Theatre is holding open auditions for Hairspray, and we invite performers of all experience levels to join us for this high-energy, heart-filled production.Auditions will take place on Saturday, January 3 beginning at 4:00 PM. Callbacks, if needed, will be held on Sunday, January 4 at 5:00 PM. Auditions and callbacks will be held at The Barn Theatre, located at 2400 SE Ocean Blvd #3312, Stuart, FL 34996.
An audition form is required for all performers before the audition date. When completing the form, you will be able to select an audition time slot. We ask all auditionees to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their time slot. Please ensure the form is submitted before arriving at auditions. (LINK FOR AUDITION PAGE & FORM BELOW)
For the open audition, please prepare 32 bars of a musical theatre song that best showcases your vocal ability. An accompanist will be provided, and a Bluetooth speaker will also be available. Do not audition a cappella.
If you are called back, please plan to dress comfortably for the dance portion. In addition to the dance portion, cold readings may be required. You will also be expected to sing a song from the show for the character you are being considered for, which will be assigned based on your open audition.
Headshots and resumes are welcome but not required. If you are unable to attend in person, video submissions will be accepted up to 24 hours before auditions.
Hairspray is a vibrant and uplifting musical set in 1960s Baltimore, following a determined teen who dreams of dancing on television and ultimately uses her platform to stand for inclusion and change. The show features a wide range of roles for many ages and types, including principal, featured, dancing ensemble, and general ensemble opportunities.
