This August, Universal Wellness Source of Roscoe Village presents Surrealism in My Skin, a solo exhibition by Chicago artist Sammi Ohlson.
Featuring several original works of art from Sammi’s Surrealism in My Skin series, Dr. John Reuter of Universal Wellness Source of Roscoe Village could not be more excited to extend an open invite to Gallery Night being held at his office, 1902 W. Belmont Ave. Chicago, IL 60657 – Friday August 2nd, 2024 6:00-8:00 P.M.
Come enjoy community, light snacks and drinks, and the opportunity to meet and chat with the artist about her pieces on display for all to enjoy.
20% of all proceeds from art sales will be donated by the artist to the Palestinian Relief Fund.
About Sammi Ohlson:
Sammi is a queer Chicago based artist, originally from Massachusetts. Her work uses surrealism in color and environment while maintaining realism in anatomy and proportions to create a dreamlike image, playing with the line of reality and fantasy.
She often uses close up portions of faces to make the viewer feel an intimate closeness with the subject matter. There are recurring patterns in the work to symbolize emotion located on the portrait. The art explores themes of expressionism, love and intimacy.
Her aim is to create a unique reality that borrows from our subconscious. Sammi uses oil paint and collage with mixed media.
About Dr. John Reuter:
Dr. John Reuter of Universal Wellness Source is a local chiropractor in Chicago’s Roscoe Village. He focuses on neurologic-based chiropractic care for your entire family and specializes in stem cell therapy for chronic pain and ailments.
Dr. John is a lover of art and has been a member of the Art Institute of Chicago for years. He wanted to do more to support and engage with his neighborhood of Roscoe Village and beyond to the greater Chicago metro area.
In that spirit he has put together a Community Outreach Art Exhibition Series featuring local artists from all over Chicago. Sammi’s Surrealism in My Skin series will be the thirteenth show at his chiropractic office.
