About this Event

An outdoor sound bath a truly unique experience that is good for the body, mind and soul. This Saturday morning session is the perfect way to start your weekend. Why not grab some friends and pack a picnic so you can linger afterwards and enjoy the afterglow of the relaxing sound experience. The beautiful combination of a gentle breeze, birds chirping, and the soothing sounds of the gong will be sure to renew and refresh your spirits.

What is a gong bath? A gong bath is an immersive meditative experience during which you lie down and listen to the soothing sounds of the gong. It's called a 'bath' because sound waves 'wash' over you and around you as you relax and enjoy the melodic journey - you are literally bathing in sound waves. The tangible vibrations help to move blocked energy and release tension, while the harmonics effortlessly lull your mind into a meditative state.

These outdoor sessions are held in St. James Church Garden in Farringdon, on the grassy knoll under the trees beside the church.

Everyone is welcome - experienced meditators and those curious to try a gong bath for the first time. The beauty of a gong bath meditation is that anyone can enjoy it, no experience necessary. (Please see note below about circumstances where gong baths might not be suitable).

The sound and vibrations from the gong help to centre the mind, calm the nervous system, and restore vitality to the body.

Here are a few suggestions for what to bring:

  • Something comfortable to lie on, such as a yoga mat, camping mat or picnic blanket
  • A blanket or warm jumper
  • A pillow for your head
  • Something to cover your eyes with

Spots are very limited so grab yours now! Social distancing guidelines will be observed, so you'll have plenty of space to yourself while being close to the gong for maximum vibrational effect.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Gong baths are not suitable for anyone with a pacemaker, anyone who suffers from fits (epileptics), or anyone who is extremely sensitive to sound. They are also not recommended for women in the first trimester of pregnancy due to the unstable nature of pregnancy during that time. If you wear a hearing aid, your device should be turned off during the session. If you have any concerns, please speak with your doctor in advance.

Who will be leading the session?

This session will be led by Martina Saorin. Martina is a 200hrs certified yoga teacher, specialised in Hatha Yoga as well as being an Advanced Yin Yoga teacher, Restorative Yoga Teacher, Level 3 Reiki Master, and a Sound facilitator. She trained with the highly respected Don Conreaux, The Tone Of Life in Poland, and Sheila Whittaker in London. She feels so blessed to have found another modality that truly resonates with her and has been studying Sound Therapy with the British Academy of Sound Therapy (BAST) in UK since April 2018.

Where else can I experience gong baths?

GONG also offers a daily schedule of virtual gong baths via Zoom as well as private sessions for teams. You can learn more about at www.aboutgong.com, say hi on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/gongstories/.
