The City of Opelousas is pleased to announce that the Opelousas Children’s Christmas Parade will roll through downtown on Thursday, December 11, at 6 p.m. The parade will begin at the eastern entrance of the city at Landry and Academy Streets near Le Vieux Village and then continue west through downtown ending at the intersection of Landry and Bullard Streets.The Opelousas Children’s Christmas Parade will feature colorfully lit floats, marching bands, community organizations, dance groups, and of course everyone’s favorite, Santa Claus. The cost to enter a large unit (18-wheeler, motor home, party barge, etc.) is $75, small trailers are $50 and cars or pickups are $25. There is no charge for those riding bicycles or walking. Additional float sponsorships related to the parade are also available.
Parade entry forms should be submitted by 4 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025. Forms can be dropped off or mailed to Opelousas Tourist Info Center, 828 East Landry Street, Opelousas, LA 70570.
