We’re taking over the beautiful upstairs hall at the Buffalo Club in Wayalup / Fremantle for a night of dope music and dance from two of our favourite selectors from both home and abroad. We’re welcoming back Yoshinori Hayashi all the way from Tokyo back to sunny Boorloo! Supported by one of our favourite selectors and baked goods queen, Montana.
Not a stranger to our sunny coast, Yoshinori has graced our shores twice before. Blowing away dancers at some of Boorloo’s most iconic fixtures such as Perfect Strangers x Chess Club underneath the big fig at PICA Bar in 2018. And again in 2020 for Chess Club alongside Montana at the mighty Navy Club. Throwing down sets that were interesting, wildly unpredictable yet so danceable. Blending his love for 90’s house oddities, bizarre bleeps ‘n’ breaks, Detroit futurism and Rephlexian braindance.
Watching Yoshi play was super inspiring to us as DJs. After dancing to his incredible set at Perfect Strangers, we instantly went away and dived into every mix of his online. Eventually stumbling onto his releases which, like his deejaying, contained this wild versatility that felt so genuine and totally addictive.
Over his brilliant career Yoshinori has released on labels like Oslo’s premier underground label Smalltown Supersound, with two albums and an EP spanning everything from avant-garde disco influenced freak-outs to breakneck junglism. Not to mention the string of brilliant EPs on fantastic record labels such as Going Good, Gravity Graffiti and Jheri Tracks (to name only three!) which follow suit in their wonderful weirdness. Between his production and his DJing, Yoshinori Hayashi has carved out a sound that is uniquely his.
So join us at the Buffalo Club on Saturday February 22nd for what’s for sure to be a dance to bookend the summer. Trust us when we say - you don’t want to miss this!
