About this Event

Happy New Year to the Writers' Circle!

We wish you all the best of health and happiness in what must be a better year than the last.

To start off the year we are going to do something a little different. Instead of simply recommending the Morning Pages as a motivational exercise, we are going to do the Morning Pages together, even though we meet at night. After the usual introduction and housekeeping rules, we will, instead of our usual five-minute free write, do three pages in handwriting, with no stopping, and no editing. The purpose of the Morning Pages, according to their creator, Julia Cameron in The Artist's Way, is to connect with the subconscious as soon as one wakes up, in order to communicate thoughts to paper in an un-curated manner.

While we normally do not read our free-write pages, this time it will be up to you as to whether you would like to read yours to the group or not. We will also discuss the exercise after, and how it feels to take part in it. For this month, we will not read work that we have prepared beforehand, but will resume doing so in February.
