This research training is:
- Engaging, hands-on, and interactive
- Designed to build researchers knowledge, skills and confidence to deepen your understanding of qualitative research and successfully conduct thematic analysis
- Based on first hand qualitative research and education experience and has been delivered extensively in Australia and internationally
- Interdisciplinary and suitable for both experienced researchers and those new to qualitative research
Real world and practical:
- This training draws on real-world examples from qualitative research projects, using thematic analysis, and other qualitative methodologies that the facilitator has undertaken; as well as practical examples to work through to help you conduct your own rigorous research.
- Participants each receive a resource pack full of activities we work through during the training.
Day 1 enables participants to:
- Have a strong understanding of the core aspects of qualitative research
- Explore and differentiate between essentialist, contextualist, and constructionist approaches to thematic analysis
- Be guided through each individual stage of thematic analysis via expertly crafted and supported activities
- Gain the skills and confidence to successfully complete a research project using thematic analysis
Day 2 enables participants to:
- Apply thematic analysis across essentialist, contextualist, and constructionist theoretical approaches
- Explore the importance of subjectivity and reflexivity in qualitative research
- Have a strong grounding in the distinctions between the three schools of thematic analysis (reflexive, codebook and coding reliability)
- Explore the relationship between thematic analysis and other qualitative approaches (e.g., discourse analysis, grounded theory interpretative phenomenological analysis)
- Use thematic analysis with a range of data types (e.g. images, webpages)
Participants receive:
- Pre-training material: Preparatory content, received two weeks before training
- Twelve hours of interactive, face-toface training over two days
- Certificate of Completion
- Option available to book in for one-on-one, post Masterclass support

- Cancellations more than 21 days before the training date will be fully refunded (excluding any Eventbrite charges).
Between 7 and 21 Days Before the Training:
- Cancellations during this period are not eligible for a refund.
- You can transfer your registration to a different training session (subject to availability).
- If no alternative live trainings are available, we will offer a transfer to an online, self-paced course.
Within 7 Days of the Training:
- No refunds will be provided.
- Cancellations will only qualify for a transfer to an online, self-paced course.
- Alternatively, you may transfer your registration to another person. This transfer must be requested at least 1 business day before the training.
