What is the Poetry Love Festival you ask? The Poetry Love Festival is an afternoon celebrating Detroit poets and our love of poetry with workshops, audio, video, performances, food, vendors and artist talks led by Detroit poets and event curators. Every workshop facilitator, every curator, every vendor, every piece on the walls or delivered from the mic will be created by Detroit poets who are also sponsoring this FREE event.
Why is the Poetry Love Festival being staged? The question is, why NOT? As poets, we can learn from each other, in a safe space where all forms of poetry are welcomed. Learn how to submit your poetry collections for publishing, how poetry can be activism, what event promoters look for when booking poets, what poets should look for when being booked as talent--hear performances from Detroit poets and join them on the open mic. The afternoon is filled with lovers of the word sharing their knowledge with YOU.
There is also an opportunity for your spoken word tracks and video to play and screen during the festival. Submit your spoken word MP3s and video via email to [email protected] using "Poetry Love Festival Submission" as the subject line. Preference will be given to tracks and video received by June 15, 2024. Once slots are filled, we will not be able to accept additional submissions.
