MassRID is an approved RID CMP sponsor for Continuing Education Activities. This General Studies program is offered at .3 CEUs/ACETs at the Little/No Content Level at the conclusion of the production. See program that will be distributed at the performance for details on how to obtain credits. A CRIDDERS performance offers professional and student interpreters the opportunity to infer costuming guidelines for a production presented fully in ASL; understand how lighting, placement, background, seating and sound contribute to the overall on-stage experience and observe, for discussion with peers, sign selection, body stance and positioning and frame reduction and expansion.
Presenters, coordinators, and participants of this educational opportunity agree to promote an environment of mutual respect, free from bias and discrimination.
Leslie Warren (CI, CT)
as the Founder and Artistic Director of The CRIDDERS (CRID-CT Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) has had a storied career as a Professional Interpreter, Interpreter Trainer and Mentor. She has presented professional, Artistic ASL workshops throughout the USA and Canada, supported by RID, the national Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, during her 47-year career. She honed her skills as an instructor of Music and Movement at the American School for the Deaf followed by her creating and instructing courses in Artistic Interpreting presented at several colleges and universities. Leslie is currently a Visiting Professor at Wesleyan University. She has consulted on Motion Picture sets; Broadway initiatives and was the recipient of many awards and citations for her work including The RID Distinguished Service Award and Very Special Arts National Recognition, Washington, DC as well as being named a Forbes 50/50 honoree for her
"impact" on her profession. She is currently the CEO of CoSignCt, a CT State approved interpreter referral agency. Leslie states that "the CRIDDERS intent is to expose the notion of music to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing population in a shared experience with hearing individuals that presents the visual, artistic side of ASL in an entertaining, comfortable atmosphere merging two distinct and unique worlds; one filled with sound, one rich in silence!
