The Thin Air and the Black Box proudly present Ian Lynch of Lankum, bringing his solo project One Leg One Eye to the Black Box for his highly anticipated Belfast debut.A founding member of lauded Dublin experimental folk group Lankum, Lynch explores submerged leylines of music and song, drawing on the raw aesthetics of black metal, noise and drone, while being deeply rooted in a sense of history and myth. His solo project One Leg One Eye sees him taking a fresh approach to arrangement, resulting in a sound that is equal parts dark, mysterious and transcendental.
The project was born in 2021, a period in which Lynch had the freedom to experiment without pressure. Field recordings from unique environments have become part of his debut album …And Take The Black Worm With Me. Partly recorded in an abandoned Dublin factory where his father once worked, Lynch’s harrowing vocals are underpinned by immense pillars of uileann pipe drones, layered with effects and field recordings to conjure a sound that is both dark and immersive.
Following standout performances at Supersonic, Green Man Festival, Rewire, and Helsinki’s Flow Festival, Lynch, alongside Wicklow composer and electronic artist George Brennan, is set to deliver one of the most unmissable shows of the year.
Tickets £14. Doors open at 7:30 PM. Support TBA.
