Using a selection of commercial blocks, we will begin the day by getting to grips with inking and printing techniques to create our own wrapping paper, before moving on to printing on fabric (a tote bag and tea towel.) We’ll be looking at simple cutting techniques, what works as a pattern as well as exploring repeat patterns & how to create them - And you’ll have the opportunity to design and carve your own printing blocks, which you’ll be able to take away with you at the end of the day.
If you have any paper or fabric that you would like to experiment with, then please bring it along. (Ideally fabric should be made of a natural material such as cotton and if possible be laundered and wrinkle free)
No previous experience of block printing is required.
All materials, blocks, inks, and tools are provided (including tote bags and tea towels) Participants are asked to bring along an apron, and any ideas that they would like to develop'
