✨ Join us for the Shining Bright for Kids Gala! ✨The upcoming year’s "One Day at a Time" Gala is all about making a difference in the lives of children in the Wide Bay region who have been exposed to family and domestic violence.
With our 2025 theme, "Shining Bright for Kids," we aim to raise funds to provide access to vital therapeutic services, like play therapy which is not currently funded through any government schemes for children to access.
Through Shine Bright Mental Health and Play & Beyond, with Children being referred through Yoorana, Centacare, ACT 4 Kids, and women seeking support for DV through Shine Bright Mental Health locally in our Wide Bay area.
This therapy offers kids a safe space to heal, grow, and rediscover hope after experiencing and witnessing Family and Domestic Violence.
For the past two years, our community has come together to make a difference:
In 2023, our theme focused on raising awareness for women facing domestic violence, symbolized by the colors pink and purple. It was a powerful night that shone a light on their resilience and strength.
In 2024, we turned our focus to promoting men’s involvement in family and domestic violence prevention, highlighting the importance of positive male role models in creating safer communities.
Now, in 2025, we’re turning our attention to supporting children. Play therapy can be a game-changer, but with sessions costing around $150 each and at least 10 sessions recommended per child, the total cost is often out of reach for many single parent families who have or are currently escaping violence. With your help, we can make sure these kids start to get the support they deserve.
A portion of the funds raised will also go towards delivering the HALT program in local schools, teaching young people about respectful relationships and how to recognize the early warning signs of coercive control.
