Sanibel Recreation Center Launches One Community, One Book-New Monthly Book Club Kicks Off September 18thThe Sanibel Recreation Center, in partnership with the Sanibel Public Library and MacIntosh Books and Paper, is proud to announce the launch of One Community, One Book, a new monthly book club designed to bring neighbors together through literature with local ties.
The program will officially kick off on Thursday, September 18th, at 12:00 p.m. at the Sanibel Recreation Center. During the launch event, the seven selected titles for the upcoming season will be formally announced. Books will be available for purchase through MacIntosh Books and Paper or on loan from the Sanibel Public Library.
Selections will highlight local authors and works rooted in Sanibel, Southwest Florida, and the state of Florida, spanning fiction, nonfiction, and history. Among the chosen titles, two family-friendly books will encourage families to read together, with special discussion events planned to celebrate those selections in November and December. Those discussions will be on days and times to accommodate family's participation. Even more exciting, two of the featured authors will be making special appearances later this season.
Light refreshments for the kickoff will be provided by Sanibel resident and baker, Lisabet Girr.
This program is open to the entire community and does not require Recreation Center membership to participate. One Community, One Book will meet monthly at the Sanibel Recreation Center on the third Thursday of the month and is free for all Sanibel residents and visitors.
