What if everyone in Pass Christian read the same book and then joined together to talk about it? That is the idea behind One Book, One Pass! Our 2025 selection is South To America: A Journey Below the Mason-Dixon To Understand the Soul of a Nation. Over the past several months, the community has been encouraged to read the book and engage in book discussions and special programs that will culminate in the Author Presentation by Imani Perry.
We are excited to announce a One Book One Pass history program by Dr. Matthew Casey on Tuesday, September 23rd at 6pm at 301 East Scenic in Pass Christian. Dr. Casey is a history professor at the University of Southern Mississippi specializing in Latin America and the Caribbean. He has conducted extensive historical research in Cuba, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. He will bring insights into the connections between the US South and the Caribbean in a way that amplifies our appreciation of Imani Perry's 'South to America'—especially those portions that discuss Cuba.
