Are you ready to take your weaving to the next level? Do you want to create fabrics that are simple to weave yet are so complex in looks that practically everyone wants to touch and feel. Well, then this Ondulé Weaving workshop is for you!
Description:
Ondulé is a French word meaning “wavy” or “corrugated.” Weaving ondulé textiles requires a special reed called a fan reed that has fanned-out dents in place of the typical straight vertical dents. In this workshop, you will learn the ondulé method to manipulate the warp ends using a special fan reed or segments of plain and fan reed and to create wavy patterns on your handlooms. Join Anu and Paula to explore the basics of creating waves in your weaving.
In this workshop you will learn:
How to manipulate warp using a fan reed and fan-plain reed combination
How to design an Ondulé project
How to optimize use of color and texture
Day 1: AM session: Discussion followed by setting up the Ondulé project on a pre-warped loom by sleying the fan reed and tying up the warp.
PM session: Ondulé weaving by manipulating fan reed
Day 2: Discussion; Q & A; Weaving continues.
Day 3: AM session: Switching looms to continue with Twill/Huck samples
PM session: Closing discussion; Q & A.
