As America stands at the threshold of seismic political and cultural change we examine its inner landscape through an iconic soundtrack of 20th century repertoire. From the Shaker naivety of Copland’s Appalachian Spring via Thomas Newman’s delicate piano-led film scores to the metropolitan bustling of Gershwin’s jazzy cityscapes – all American life is here.
Pianist Viv McLean has been described by Le Monde as “possessing the genius one finds in those who know how to forget themselves”.
He regularly plays with the Adderbury Ensemble and has also performed with other leading chamber groups including the Ysaye String Quartet, the Sacconi String Quartet, and the London Mozart Players Chamber Ensemble.
California-born conductor Rebecca Miller has earned an international reputation for her compelling, insightful, and energetic presence on the podium and for her ability to communicate with audiences of all ages. Rebecca is conducting the Swan Youth Orchestra this season.
The Swan will be joined on stage by musicians from Warwick Schools Foundation performing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue as a side-by-side.
