About this Event
It was a blessing sharing the page with you all last month for our Returning to the Body Workshop. We wrote poems about our bodies, where they’ve been and where they are going, and then moved together through an amazing yoga class instructed by one of our very own, CJ Franco (@resilientlycj). We are becoming better writers together, becoming more and more courageous every time we attempt the mic, and are creating community and space without even trying. Thank you for this.
For those of you who haven’t attended a workshop before, Poetry for the Masses is a collective and workshop/open mic series that I host every single month at Midnight Books/ Art Space HP. For the past 5 months, we have written poems about love, passion, nostalgia, pride, our earth, and the body, and this month we will be attempting prompts on God–the presence of God in our lives and the absence of God as well. On September 27th at 7pm, we will be exploring together what and who informs our faith, and how we can channel faith and art to face life’s inevitable feats. All experiences and denominations are welcomed and encouraged here.
I continue to learn from you all, and through these workshops have become a better writer, a better friend, and a better community member. This workshop will be our last one of the year, until we return at the top of 2025, so don’t miss it! You can purchase your tickets here. For the People Cafe will be serving their delicious cafecito, and supplies and prompts will be provided to you! As always, please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I’m so looking forward to writing with you!
