About this Event

Omoo Omoo is a psych rock-kinda band from New England. They have existed in some form since 2009 but have been dormant since 2022. Blending elements of psych rock, classic prog rock and jazz, the four piece create a wide range of sounds live and on record. Newly reformed and energized, Omoo Omoo will be more active in 2025 and beyond.

Listening to Devi Mambouka, known as Masma Dream World, is bearing witness to a personal journey through hell and back. “In the darkest corners of isolation, pain, and despair, my cries for my mother echoed into the abyss. Instead of succumbing to the void, I was found by the goddess, who saved me from my final attempt to escape this mortal coil.” PLEASE COME TO ME is an invitation to a private ritual of healing, an invocation to the ancestors, and a communion with nature. They are the sounds of an elemental longing, and it will haunt you. As a child in Gabon, she sang to the trees, and her music transports you into the depths of the forest in the night, a scary but thrilling place to get lost. She would hear and see ghosts in her father’s house, and she still hears the spirits…

There’s a kinship I recognize in MDW’s music, performance, and rituals. Her gothic love affair with the darkness, the mysteries, walking right up to the abyss and peeking inside with awe and curiosity. She doesn’t run from pain, but straight towards it and through, using it as a tool for creation and transcendence. She walks alongside the ghosts and sings to them. Music for the shadow world. Songs you experience, not just listen to. It demands participation. MDW reaches deep-down to the interior of herself at its most vulnerable proving that sorrow can be transformative, and music can heal. The once silent voice of her childhood nightmares is loud and clear now, a voice that can set fire to monsters.

Sunken Cages is the solo-project of drummer/electronic music producer Ravish Momin. Momin studied with US Jazz master-drummer Andrew Cyrille. He has worked as a sideman with a wide array of musicians including US Jazz legend Kalaparush Maurice McIntyre (AACM/Chicago) and pop-star Shakira. In the past, he led Tarana, a shapeshifting global-Jazz trio, on international and domestic stages for the past 14 years

His current projects include 'Turning Jewels Into Water' (with Haitian electronic music pioneer Val Jeanty), a duo with dragonchild (DA Mekonnen of Debo Band) and Zelzeleh (with Iranian singer/songwriter Kamyar Arsani.) As Sunken Cages, Momin plays electronic drums. While rooted in Indian and Black Music traditions, he is also influenced by the street sounds of underground dance music from Sao Paolo to Durban to Mumbai. He is signed to Akuphone Records (France.)

He has done remixes for Depeche Mode, global electronic music producers Batida (Portugal), Babani Sound System (Mauritius) and Guedra Guedra (Morocco).

Doors are at 7pm and music will start at 730pm. This show is all ages and seating is limited and also first come first served. This show presented in collaboration with the Showroom!
