When the pair met in 2012, Seckou loved Omar for his musical spirituality, whilst Omar saw in Seckou a rare ability to collaborate but not lose his identity. Their debut album Transparent Water (2017) was hailed as ‘beautiful, rhapsodic… spiritual’ (Songlines) and ‘mesmerising, evocative and sophisticated’ (World Music Central). Recorded during lockdown and released in October 2021, Sosa and Keita’s second album SUBA is a hymn to hope, to a new dawn of compassion and real change in a post-pandemic world, a visceral reiteration of humanity’s perennial prayer for peace and unity. Joining Omar and Seckou for live performances is the inimitable Montreal percussionist Aldo Mazza.

Lors de leur première rencontre en 2012, Seckou Keita a adoré l’univers musical empreint de spiritualité d’Omar Sosa, tandis que ce dernier a vu en son homologue une rare capacité à collaborer sans perdre son identité. Le premier album du duo, Transparent Water (2017), a été qualifié de « magnifique, rhapsodique… spirituel » (Songlines) et d’œuvre « envoûtante, évocatrice et raffinée » (World Music Central).
Enregistré pendant le confinement et lancé en octobre 2021, le second album des deux comparses, SUBA, est un hymne à l’espoir, à une nouvelle ère de compassion et de réel changement dans notre monde post-pandémique, une réitération viscérale de l’éternel désir de paix et d’unité qui caractérise l’humanité. Le duo est accompagné en studio et sur scène par l’inimitable percussionniste montréalais Aldo Mazza.
