e“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration. The very foundations of our Universe, of matter and thought, appear to lie in sound vibration.”
~ Nikola Tesla
In the Eastern spiritual tradition, it is believed that mantras or sacred syllables – whether thought or stated out loud – can affect our physical vibration and over time impact our perception in a positive way, purify the environment in which we practice and improve our overall wellness. Sanskrit mantras are very powerful in particular. Ancient sages discovered that chanting mantras supports the refinement of consciousness. In the literal sense, mantra means to free the mind. When we repeatedly merge our awareness with a mantra, the mantra becomes like an inner tuning fork. Our whole being begins to vibrate to a deep and mysterious hum, subtle frequencies of transformation invite us to merge with the infinite.
The sacred syllable OM, ॐ [AUM] is known as Pranava Mantra, the primordial hum. At the dawn of creation, it is believed that arising from emptiness or the void, first emerged a sound A-U-M.
In essence, when we chant OM, we are inviting our hearts to better align with the consciousness that is in us and around us. The practice centers the mind, body, and spirit, deepens focus and builds compassion. By elevating consciousness it helps eliminate negative thoughts. It improves immunity and self-healing power as well as creates a meditative state which induces deep relaxation. When the OM Mantra is chanted in a group, the effects are amplified and this will produce immense positive vibrations which charge up and purify the environment.
Join us for this group chanting practice. The first half of the class will focus on chanting OM mantra and the second half will be an introduction to a new mantra in a spoken or call and response form (Kirtan).Facilitators bio:
