On Sunday, October 5th, we're hosting our 5th annual Olympia city scavenger hunt: The Hunt for Leopold's Gold!!!CITY SCAVENGER HUNT? HOW DOES THIS WORK?
We have prepared a list of intriguing things, scenarios, and challenges hidden in and around downtown Olympia, and your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to capture them all through photographs to earn points.
COOL! WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO TAKE PART?
-4 people to make up a team (we suggest your wisest and/or coolest friends)
-Team uniform: Points will be awarded to the teams with the most unique uniforms, so put some thought into it!
-Team name: Something cool that can be read out loud in mixed company.
-A team captain that is versed in the ways of Instagram. Each team will set up a unique Instagram account and this is the medium we will use to track points.
-Wear comfortable shoes
-Get to Well 80 at at 9AM to pick up your hunt packet and to enjoy your included breakfast burrito and coffee.
-Reserve your registration spot and pay your team fees
-Be ready for the starting bell at 10:00AM
-Collect as many points as you can and be back at Well 80 by 2PM for the awards ceremony!
WHY A BREAKFAST HOUR?
-Because breakfast burritos are awesome
-So you can have an hour to build a strategy with your team
-It's a good opportunity to scout the other teams and make non-monetary side bets
WHAT ARE THE BASIC RULES?
-No driving or riding bikes/skateboards/rollerblades. Feet or public transit only (city buses are free now!).
-To be awarded points, a photo must be uploaded to Instagram and must include all the team members and the Leopold head.
-Must be 21+ to register and participate.
CAN WE PRE-REGISTER AND IS SPACE LIMITED?
-Yes and Yes. Pre-registration has already started. To maintain the excitement and fair play, we are limiting each team to a maximum of 4 members. Every participant will receive cool Leopold-branded materials to enhance your hunt experience.
Early Bird Registration: $150/team thru Sept 1
General Admission: $170/team
WHAT CAN WE WIN?
-First prize is Leopold's Gold! Which includes: A future beer to be named after the winning team; 4 unique custom house beer glasses with team and individual names engraved on the sides for use in the pub for 1 year (you get to take it home after the year is up); Your team name added to the Leopold's Gold trophy; Team photo on the wall for one year; and of course, gift cards to your favorite brewhouse (your 1st hint of the hunt: it's Well 80)
-Second & third: TBD, but they'll be cool too.
-Prizes will be up for grabs for best costumes, most miles logged on Strava, and probably a few other surprises—we’re still brainstorming!
