Olivia's World is proud to present their debut full-length album 'Greedy & gorgeous', the band's third release following their two EPs 'Olivia's World' (2019) and 'Tuff 2B Tender' (2021). In 'Greedy & gorgeous', a quasi-concept album about desire, Olivia's World inhabitants deal with the woes of pleasure-seeking and a never-ending quest for beauty.
Join Olivia's World across April & May 2025 as they loudly re-enact their new LP songs across their first proper East Coast Australian tour.
They are joined in Meanjin/Brisbane by Keep on Dancin’s and Local Authority. Keep on Dancin’s have been Brisbane’s most attractive heartthrobs for over a decade, playing shoegaze ballads that would haunt Phil Spector in jail. Their 2024 single ‘Bridges’ blew up local radio, with a promise of some salacious reissues as well as brand new songs coming in 2025. FFO Slowdive, Alvvays, Amy O. Local Authority’s late 2024 LP ‘Memory Loss’ is a brilliantly cut shoegaze gemstone complete with cascading feedback solos, duo singing, and whammy strumming for days. Rooted in escapist reality, Olivia's World is a Brisbane via Vancouver via Canberra slacker rock project, now based in Sydney, Australia. Formed in 2017 during a two-year minimum wage sabbatical in Canada's West Coast, Olivia’s World came to fruition after a last-ditch effort for a drummer resulted in the recruitment of frontwoman Alice Rezende’s longtime musical hero–indie pop legend Rose Melberg.
Based in Australia since 2019, Olivia’s World is a conduit for collaboration and has included a rotating roster of musicians. Original members Alice Rezende (Go Violets, Tempura Nights) and Joe Saxby (These Guy, Big Bad Echo) are now joined by Jordan Rodger (TV Colours, Wives, Soft Toy) and Dirk Jonker (Bloods).
While 'Greedy & gorgeous' fits snug into the greater Aussie scene–with clear nods, as Canberran music critic Aaron Crowe puts it, to “dolewave pop”–, there’s no denying Olivia’s World’s ability to break the mold. The project still honours their life-long love of vintage twee, all the while charting through their own journey in the fractured squabble of the modern music landscape.
