OLEG SKRYPKA: the founder of energetic, gloriously joyful, irresistible Ukrainian rock music arrives in Sweden with only a big show – and OMG! – we wish every rock legend could rock like him!
The timing for this tour could not be more special. It’s the time for Ukrainian music to sound loud and proud all over Europe, to gather Ukrainians and all supporters of Ukraine together. In Sweden in particular, this is going to be the first club concert of a renowned Ukrainian artist this year: a reason to get together and sing along to these beautiful songs. It’s no exaggeration to call OLEG SKRYPKA a national legend. Yet before the time of Ukrainian independence, he and his band @facebook.com/vopli (VV) rocked numerous arenas in Ukraine and abroad. Oleg is an actor, composer, and founder of national festivals Land of Dreams, Rock Sich, and many cultural projects. His most famous brainchild is VV, a mind-blowing rock lineup. The band stood at the origins of modern Ukrainian music. SKRYPKA was the first one to sing rock in Ukrainian. And still today VV continues to create the history of quality rock music, gathering arenas and breaking stereotypes of conventional ethno rock. The melodic hits of VV are sung by millions, and the special feature of the band is the explosive energy of live performances and dedication to Ukrainian culture. For 35 (!!) years, VV has been sharing its irresistible energy with fans all over the world.
Skrypka has lived, worked, and toured extensively both in Ukraine and in the West, with VV and other projects. His biography includes the famous collaboration with the Ukrainian National Folk Orchestra (Naoni), Zabava Jazz Cabaret (an art project at the intersection of retro-jazz, Ukrainian romance, and French chanson), Le Grand Orchestra (a mix of Ukrainian folk hits with rumba and blues) and many more.
This autumn, OLEG SKRYPKA, and VV are setting on tour to raise the patriotic spirit of Ukrainians abroad and unite all progressive forces in Europe. SKRYPKA defines it as a cultural mission: to let Ukrainian music sound all over Europe, and to make the words of truth and unconquered freedom resonate in the hearts - in this difficult time of Russian aggression against Ukraine.
SKRYPKA and VV continuously support the specialized children's hospital Okhmatdyt in Kyiv.
