About this Event
Film-making in Nature's Image
Dive into the intertwining roots of nature and creativity with Dear Future films. Drawing wisdom from nature's wisest - the ancient 'Mother Tree' - this workshop will enable you to forge connections as deep as the roots of these seasoned woodland guardians.
Join us at The Compound, West St Leonards, and:
- Craft a mini set or shoebox diorama with provided props and lights.
- Create short films on your smartphone. No prior skills required!
- Bring alive, with borrowed items from local woodlands, the intricate network between trees, fungi, and plants.
- Film personal objects or found items that remind you of the oldest tree in the woods.
Dear Future is the creative brainchild of Rebecca Marshal and Rachel Pearson. Drawing from a rich practice of film-making and silversmithing, Rebecca and Rachel conceive immersive events that bridge the gap between moving image, film, and participative experiences. Tap into the spirit of the everyday, and let your curiosity guide you to self-expression.
Experience film-making as a shared adventure. Irrespective of whether you've dabbled in film before, Dear Future will guide you towards exploring our world, inside and out, in a wholly new light. Your visions will come alive, whether they emerge from pictures, poetry, or homemade sound effects. The highlight: one-off live film performances that remix and celebrate our shared creations.
