Bay Saint Louis, MS - Old Soul Fashioned Christmas features all the holiday joy with an ugly sweater / holiday themed costume contest, old fashioneds made with Old Soul Bourbon, and live music from Flow Tribe & Nonc Nu and the Wild Matous. Founded in 2004, Flow Tribe solidified in the wake of Hurricane Katrina's destruction with the mission to bring the next generation of the New Orleans' sound of unstoppable rhythm and passion to the world. The next 15 years would find Flow Tribe performing over 120 shows a year crossing the country multiple times from the biggest festival stages to freak shows. These are six seasoned blue collar musicians who grind out the good times. They carry on the road dog tradition of following the highway to wherever the next crowd congregates.
Nonc Nu and Da Wild Matous is a band on a mission. The five-piece group from Thibodaux looks to bring Cajun music to a whole new audience, one that perhaps views the style as a relic of the past. Mike Collins, who plays accordion in the band, said that the rock flavor they bring to Cajun music stems from their early years.
"We all went to high school at the same time and played mostly metal, alternative rock, that kind of thing," Collins said. "We got to a point where none of us were in a band, and we said, 'Why don't we start a Cajun band?' as a joke and stuff. But we did it, and it kind of took off."
