From the fresh folk songs of the 1970s, to the diverse developments of the 1980s, and the peak of Mando pop in the 1990s, Van Lefan revives and reinterprets beloved hits from each era, breathing new life into these cross-generational melodies. Through this performance, Van Lefan reconnects with her own cultural roots, and hopes this concert will inspire young Canadian musicians to embrace creating in their mother tongue. The event will also feature Josie Chang, founder of Taiwan’s renowned Vietnamese kitchen “petit été” (Little Summer) and an international culinary practitioner. She will present uniquely styled Taiwanese-Vietnamese fusion dishes, where cross-cultural flavours spark exciting new sensations on the palate and awaken memories of different cultures and generations.
Let’s kick it back old school with some nostalgic tunes paired with imaginative culinary experiments, as we come together to celebrate a meaningful and truly unique Lunar New Year.
