Oktoberfest at HooDoo kicks off on Saturday, September 20th - just like in Munich! // THE BEER //
Our Oktoberfest Lager, was brewed mid-summer according to Reinheitsgebot (the Bavarian Beer Purity Law). After fermentation, the brew lagered away in our cellar, maturing, melding, and becoming more delicious by the day. Malty, bready, and so smooth, this year’s Oktoberfest is tasting spot-on and we can’t wait to share it with you! This tasty lager will be available by the glass, and to-go in 5-gallon kegs, growlers and 4-packs of 16oz cans.

This year, we partnered with Fairbanks artist Deanna Lazarus. Deanna is a long-time HooDoo customer who is excited to finally be featured for Oktoberfest! Her whimsical stein painting is full of HooDoo and German inspired details that we love, and we’re stoked to hang the original in the Taproom on 9/20.
// THE STEIN //
For this year’s stein, we went with the 1-Liter Rastal Kannenbäcker Stein — a traditional stoneware Bierkrug handcrafted in the heart of Germany. Made with the finest clay from the prestigious Kannenbäckerland region, it’s timeless, sturdy, and the perfect way to enjoy Oktoberfest at HooDoo.
A limited run of these beauties will be on sale for $45 each in the Taproom on Saturday, 9/20 at 11am.

In Munich, the Mayor taps the first keg of Oktoberfest Lager at Noon sharp. Lucky for us Fairbanksans, we have TWO mayors - both Borough Mayor Hopkins and City Mayor Pruhs will help us kick off 16 days of festivities at HooDoo by tapping the first keg of this year’s brew.
// Costume Contest // - 1pm Saturday 9/20
Break out the dirndls and lederhosen! Join us for our Oktoberfest Costume Contest. Show off your best traditional German attire for a chance to win some HooDoo goodies.
// Stein Holding //
Who can hold a full 1 Liter stein directly out in front of them the longest? Men’s and Women’s divisions! The top three in each qualifying round advance to the Final, where the Grand Prize is two tickets on the HooDoo ChooChoo — a $436 value!

Think you know your Oktoberfest history, beer facts, and all-things-HooDoo? Grab a few friends and join us in the back of the brewhouse, amidst the stainless steel and fresh beer for a night of trivia fun. 9 teams of 4 will compete for bragging rights and prizes. Call 459-BEER to reserve your spot!
// Yodeling Competition // - 7pm Friday 9/26
It’s been about a decade, but Yodeling returns to HooDoo! Grab the mic and yodel your heart out to Hocus Pocus by Focus and the crowd will pick their fave. Bring your best pipes and loudest lederhosen to cheer on the brave yodelers!

// HooDoo Half Marathon // - Saturday 10/4
It’s our 10th year hosting the HooDoo Half Marathon! This 13.1 mile run/walk/stroll leaves Plant Kingdom, rounds Farmers Loop and UAF before finishing at the brewery. Proceeds from this race go directly to the United Way of the Tanana Valley.
