The 2nd Okataina Drum Camp 🪘🔥🌳 A weekend retreat for Drummers, Dancers, Twirlers, Music & Nature lovers
The camp is located in the beautiful native bush of the Lake Okataina Scenic Reserve, 25 minutes east of Rotorua in the Bay of Plenty
Dormitory-style accommodation will be available or if you prefer you can bring along camping gear or self-contained camping vehicles. Toilets & Showers onsite.
We have many drummers in NZ who collectively have a solid understanding of many traditional rhythms. We are creating a space to explore and play these rhythms, to learn from each other and to feel free to express ourselves.
Dunun (bass drums) and djembe (hand drums) will be leading the music.
There will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to come together - drumming and dancing around the fire, sharing food, relaxing in the Native bush, enjoying a sauna or seeing the Glow worms at night.
If you want to give it a go but don't have a drum - we will have some available to borrow.
We are also stoked to have Camila Chicon on board to look after our bodies. She will be holding morning bodyfullness sessions and a dance workshop.
No pets are allowed because of the scenic reserve
Cost $80 pp for 1 day/night or
$150 pp for 2 days / nights
Under 16's $30 per day
Friday night shared dinner
Catering options: breakfast Sat and Sun
$10 each day.
Dinner Saturday night $15
$35 for Dinner + 2 breakfasts.
